Stores Person

Location: Crawley, UK
Duration: Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 16:30 (45-minute lunch break between 12:00 – 14:00)

We’re looking for an organised and proactive Stores Person to join our client’s operations team, supporting the efficient management of stock, inventory and materials within a fast-paced working environment.

Working closely with Operations, Sales, Purchasing and Project teams, you’ll be responsible for ensuring goods are accurately received, inspected, stored, controlled and issued to support production requirements and customer delivery. You’ll play a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, stock integrity and smooth operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming goods and complete accurate quality and quantity checks.
  • Process stock movements and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Pick, prepare and issue materials to support customer orders and production requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, shortages and inventory queries.
  • Ensure all goods are correctly identified, labelled and stored in designated locations.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, stock security and organisation within the stores area.
  • Support stock control activities including inventory checks, replenishment and forecasting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate ERP/MRP system data including stock levels, locations, transactions and reorder points.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and support improvements to stock control processes.
  • Liaise with Operations, Sales, Purchasing and Project teams to ensure materials are available when required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the stores and inventory function.
  • Assist with general operational, purchasing and administrative duties as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within stores, inventory control or warehouse operations.
  • Strong understanding of stock control processes and inventory management principles.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to accurately maintain stock records and manage high volumes of transactions.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Experience managing multiple product lines and maintaining stock accuracy.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve stock-related issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering, construction or trade environment.
  • Knowledge of hardware, ironmongery or building products.
  • Experience supporting demand planning, stock forecasting or replenishment activities.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement processes within stores or warehouse operations.
